Ferrifloc ®
The appearance of this product is a clear, dark orange, aqueous solution.
Properties and Applications
- Reacting ferric chloride with polyelectrolytes produces a synergistic product up to 30% more effective than the components dosed separately. The resulting lower dosages required cushions the pH depression and alkalinity consumption associated with FeCℓз.
- It is used in the clarification of a broad range of surface waters to potable water standards and in industrial effluent treatment.
- It is a proven cost effective option primarily on surface water with reasonable alkalinity and hardness under low to medium turbidity conditions (~200 NTU).
- The optimum pH band is less sensitive than FeCℓз but it is still important to determine for optimum effectively.
- A lime dosing facility is usually required for low alkalinity waters.
- A handling and dosing facility suitable for a corrosive liquid is required. Heavy-duty LDPE tanks are recommended for bulk storage. It should be metered undiluted through a corrosion resistant positive displacement dosing pump, typically PVC or PP liquid end, with subsequent dilution at the dosing point if deemed necessary for rapid dispersion through the water body.
